How do I update my software profile?

Updated over 11 months ago

When you reach the Products landing page you’ll be able to see a list of software products that are currently associated with your workspace. Here, you can see an overview of your products, their profile completion scores, as well as being able to add new products and manage existing ones.

When you select “Manage Product” you will be taken to your product overview screen.

The products overview section

This is where you will edit and update your product information.

Once you enter your product page, you’ll see your product name, the completion score of your profile, and the details of when the last update to your product was made.

You will also be able to see the Products navigation menu including your product overview, the promote tool, and your software awards.

Product name

Your product name will be how your software appears on site and is found using search. It is best to keep your product name as the simplest form of your software name as possible e.g. “Prospect Path” rather than “Prospect Path ERP software”.

Logo

Your logo information is automated to use a Clearbit logo, but if you prefer to upload a logo yourself this is also possible. It is best to use a .png or .jpeg here, and square logos tend to work best here where possible.

Software categories

There are two sections for your software category information. The first software category is your primary category, this is your software’s main purpose and audience. This must be filled out, and can only be one product category.

Additional software categories can be included on your profile using the section below. Additional categories can be added to reflect your product’s suitability for other categories of software. You should only add additional categories if your product could be used on a stand-alone basis by software buyers in the category.

As you type your software category into the field, you will be able to see it populate with existing categories we have listed on site. If your category is not included in this list, please get in touch with us to discuss more.

Screenshots

You must provide a minimum of one screenshot for your profile, but you can include up to 10 screenshots. These should be .png or .jpeg files and should be screenshots of your actual software rather than promotional materials or stock photos of people using your software.

Product features

Most comparison and review websites use product feature filters to help users create a list of products based on the specific features they are looking for. Keeping your product features up to date means your product will be found by the most appropriate software buyers.

Features

The features section is populated based on your category selection you’ve made previously. Features in our database are tagged to specific software categories. You can select features that your software offers here using the checkboxes.

If your product is in a category where we do not yet have feature data, this section will be blank, but please do get in touch with us if you’d like to provide feature information and we will review this on a case by case basis.

Operating system platform

These are the systems where your software is supported including mobile capabilities. If your software provides a mobile app on Android or iOS you’ll be prompted to add a URL from the app store to your mobile app to verify this.

Category-specific: Compliance

Some categories will have additional fields, such as medical software vendors, which include compliance features. Here you will be able to show what regulatory compliance measures your software supports.

Support

Support services

Here is where you include what support and implementation services you offer with the software. These services don’t have to be included as standard in your software package, but can be something you offer as an additional service or feature. More information on costs of support services can be added to pricing plans.

Customers

This is where you can use your customer targeting to help comparison and review websites display your product to the users most likely to convert into a customer. Being selective is beneficial as it associates your product with specific market expertise.

Industry

Your industry should be any specific industry that your company serves. Please be as selective as possible here if you’re a niche provider, this industry section is used to populate comparison filters as well as niche comparison pages.

Category-specific: Specialty

For healthcare providers, you can add in which specialties your software works with in the medical sector.

Pricing

Increasingly software buyers are searching for price information before they engage with vendors so adding pricing (and keeping it updated) ensures your product features in price comparisons tools and in pricing related content.

You can add as many pricing plans to your product as you wish. These plans can be very granular and specific to your software.

To add a pricing plan, just click “Add Pricing Plan”, you will also be able to see any existing pricing plans in this section.

Provide the name of the pricing plan, as you wish for it to be displayed, as well as the cost, currency, whether it is per license or user, as well as the billing period which is the choice between monthly, annually, or one-off payment.

For monthly plans, you can specify annual discounts either by percentage discount or by total amount of money off the plan.

As well as confirming additional costs such as support costs or installation fees.

You can include which features are included with individual pricing plans as well as whether support is included in this specific plan.

You can also include if there are minimum requirements for a pricing plan such as a minimum number of users for the pricing plan, or a maximum number of employees in an organization.

Finally, you can include any additional notes in a text field about your product pricing.

Once you’re happy with your pricing plan, select the “Confirm Pricing Plan” button to add this to your profile.

Completing your profile

Once you have finished entering information into your product overview, click the Update Product button to save the information and move to the Promote step or click Save as Draft to save for later.
